Lisa Bravi and Romain Joly, Visual Merchandising Award presented by CHANEL, “État des lieux”
To record a place is to observe what is there.
Note: an angle, a surface, a material set down, but also what escapes the immediate gaze.
A slight movement.
A mark without cause.
A tension in space.
You can’t always see what a space keeps from you.
Even when you think you’ve taken everything with you, something remains.
Torn tapestries, marked surfaces, openings. You guess more than you see.
The walls still speak, filled with imprints and silences. Time flows quietly.
Cardboard boxes sit there.
Nothing says whether they’ve just arrived or never left.
They feel like clues.
