Outdoors Encounters
Outdoors Encounters was born out of a dialogue between mountain peaks and city centres.
Having grown up in the heart of the Vosges mountains, my relationship with technical clothing has always been obvious. I have always been interested in sports and utility equipment. Stimulated by the dynamic atmosphere of the big cities where I have lived, my attention has also turned to concepts of contemporary masculine elegance, stylistic versatility, comfort and practicality. It is in this balance, between natural verticality and human density, that the collection finds its initial breath.
At the same time, studying the work of designer Martino Gamper led me to question the process by which he constructs his pieces, and how this thinking can be translated into cutting and sewing techniques. This inspired me to develop silhouettes that stand out from the static object, highlighting the relationship between a volume and the body that holds it up. I attempted to reinvent the male wardrobe with hybrid, geometric typologies.
Based on these main themes, I designed my garments using a single pattern element. I took a technical approach whereby each cut and each finish uses the entire piece of material and aims to minimise fabric waste.
Ultimately, this collection is the happy and unexpected encounter of several stereotypical, codified and, at first glance, opposing wardrobes, from which I hope contemporary men will break free.
