Essences
Essences is a collection of accessories inspired by my work in three-dimensional marquetry. Each piece is conceived as a dialogue between the hand, the material and time. The collection consists of seven accessories, each crafted from a different type of wood, forming a gradual gradient from light to dark: maple, curly sycamore, tamo, olive, plane tree, French walnut burl, walnut burl and Rio rosewood. These rare or ancient woods are chosen for their natural colours, textures and history. Often fragments of trees older than myself, they carry within them a memory that I seek to reveal through form and assembly. Each accessory thus pays homage to the tree from which it originated.
The title plays on a double meaning: the plurality of wood species and essence in the spiritual sense — that which constitutes the soul of an object. In an era saturated with objects of untraceable origin, I offer pieces that are inhabited, rooted in a slow and precise gesture, that of craftsmanship. These accessories are not designed as simple ornaments, but as portable micro-architectures, sculpted from the material with respect and meaning. Through the interplay of volumes, grains and assemblies, I construct an organic and tactile aesthetic, somewhere between jewellery, sculpture and talisman.
The collection embodies a vision where craftsmanship meets living material, where each piece illustrates a silent story, that of wood, the hand and time.
