LOU CABANOUN

Nestled at the back of the garden, beyond the wild weeds and prickly pear trees, Lou Cabanoun brings together bees and humans in a refuge space. This room questions the way in which the Mediterranean territory is livable when faced with the current climatic challenge. Formally inspired by the Provençal bee walls, Lou Cabanoun pays tribute to the Provençal black bee by borrowing elements from the beekeeping world.

This sanctuary, through its materiality, is an interpretation of the dry-stone huts, these Provencal vernacular constructions. Within this refuge, the elements of the Mediterranean ecosystem are enhanced and sanctified. Using the universal codes of protection, this space conveys a sense of care and attention to the cycles of life. Lou Cabanoun is a total ecosystem. It draws its essence from the demonstration and promotion of a set of ancestral techniques and skills of excellence.
