Bois sensible

Bois sensible consists of a set of handmade wooden household objects with minimal additions of natural materials.
Exploring a very common material like wood through its nature and history, as a living material, is to me a necessary and poetic approach where the consideration of the material is paramount. It is about replacing the original strength of the tree, its longevity, its territory, at the heart of the production.

The design of the object is guided by the selection of local species and waste material from the sawmill, and by an appreciation of what is usually classified as defective. The raw, uncluttered design reveals the evolution of the inert material interacting with the surrounding elements that change its aspect (insects, mushrooms, water, sun).

The beauty of an inhabited space is reflected in the poetry of the objects that make it up. Letting their materials speak is essential.
