Rémi Calmont & De Pino
The installation created and made by artist Rémi Calmont and designer Gabriel Figueiredo, the founder of De Pino, is a monumental work in wadding. Designed in two parts, this creation blends in with the unique architecture of the villa Noailles while echoing its rich surrealist past.
One part of the installation takes place in the villa’s forecourt, where wadding curtains frame the panoramic view of Hyères and its surroundings, establishing a visual and poetic link between the artwork and the surrounding landscape. The other part unfurls directly on the villa’s roof.
Marie-Laure de Noailles, a great patron of the avant-garde arts, was a major source of inspiration for the designers. With this installation, Calmont and De Pino reactivate the surreal spirit of the villa, combining their expertise in drawing and textile design. The forms, both playful and exaggerated, give the work a surprising and captivating nature, inviting to reverie and wonder.
In this way, the installation acts as a bridge between past and present, a tribute to the surrealist heritage of the villa Noailles, while offering a unique visual and sensory experience, true to the spirit of freedom and creativity that characterises this emblematic place.
