Romain Bichot, Prix le19M des Métiers d’art

The project is a fusion of Lesage fabric and strapping, giving rise to a strapless dress. The idea behind this piece is to rework a wardrobe archetype and collide it with the shape of the mattress, an object developed in my first collection presented in competition last year. The left half echoes the silhouette of a classic strapless dress, while the right side stretches and wraps around, thickening at the front and rising up over the shoulder. This enveloping gesture around the body echoes the red mattress from my 2024 collection. On the front, the orange silk Jacquard inscription “nothing really mattress,” similar to a tag, adorns the piece.
