Archéologie du futur
What will future archaeological discoveries look like? What meaning will they give to our present time through the objects that will have been unearthed?
Archaeology of the future is a futuristic project featuring a series of artifacts that give a prospective representation of our material footprint. This project uses a new tool in design: photogrammetry – common in archaeology – in order to scan existing items and to create, recompose and imagine a possible scenario based on these.
To carry out this research, I collect on the ground what will become in the distant future the remnants of our time. Composing my own palette of work, gleaned forms, I imagine a new method of digital creation. I sculpt, I combine, I assemble, I transform to achieve a representation in objects.
A plant wraps around a container eroded by time. A shell fossilizes around a metallic rod. A set of objects is created, evoking a future where industrial forms would gradually be reclaimed by nature. Eventually, this digital collection materialises into handcrafted pieces – silverware and jewellery, resulting from this technology applied to design.
This project aims to take a unique perspective on a buried reality to reveal, through design, our current and future concerns.
