TEGULA
TEGULA
Tegula is a patio for meditation, at dawn or in the evening when the Mediterranean breeze blows through the pillars of an ancient villa. The air carries scents of everlasting or sage. Between indoor and outdoor space, terra cotta is omnipresent and brings you back to what is essential.
In this peristyle made of canal tiles, used since Antiquity for the roofs of the region, a pool cools the air. The sound of water, together with the song of birds and crickets at nightfall, takes you to a soothing getaway.
The tiles unfold vertically and horizontally; their reflections evoke the southern Genoise tiling. The mirror is part of the architecture; it recreates a whole patio, a space we imagine to be continuous. The ceiling reflects the floor with its shades of blue sky. The benches allow you to admire this space between imagination and reality, to sit and contemplate the boats sailing on the sea or the pool with these two tiles as though laid by the wind.
