“Distractions” Stéven Coëffic
“I design objects intended for the home, everyday objects, to turn an ordinary gesture into a curiosity. By modifying their uses, I establish functional entertainment: automation is replaced by entertainment. This reflection is conveyed by colourful objects, mainly in ceramics or glass, which I make in my workshop.”
The designer confirms his belief by presenting his latest pieces, produced in the villa Belleville workshops.
Stéven Coëffic works mainly on a self-producing model, collaborating with the brand American Vintage as well as with the studio Label Famille. He has been running the design workshops for young people at the villa Noailles for the 2022-2023 season.
At the invitation of the villa Noailles and the French Ministry of Education, Stéven Coëffic designed a workshop to make this switch with 15 teachers, who will then create it at school with their pupils. To light a lamp, the collective switch is fitted with twelve ceramic modules, each of which is made by a participant.
