Create a lamp with endless variations using minimal materials and a simple process.

Thomas Takada is a French artist born in Japan whose practice lies at the intersection of architecture, design, and art. Against the backdrop of the climate crisis, he seeks to foster a fresh, curious, and innocent perspective on our physical environment. Aware of the dynamics of globalization and the growing complexity of materials and production methods, he favors a local and hands-on approach. His work aims to be educational, poetic, and focused on the essentials.

Y32 DESIGN WORKSHOP with SIMON DUPETY and LÉONARD BAYEURTE

Simon Dupety is the winner of the Design Parade Hyères Grand Prize – 2025
Léonard Bayeurte is a guest artist and designer, with a PhD in Design from ENSAD PSL

Duration: 2 hours
Workshop for adults ages 16 and up

Y32
Why do shelves have holes spaced 32 mm apart?
How can the branches of a tree be put to practical use?
Can we combine an industrial system with an organic resource?
Using Y-shaped branches and semi-finished products, the Y32 workshop will explore design using natural and industrial resources. Emerging from this convergence, the objects created will evoke a vision of repurposing and reappropriation, and will engage in a dialogue about the role of living things in our modes of production.

Simon Dupety founded the design studio simon+ in 2021 and explores craftsmanship and its traditional and future applications. There, he develops a laboratory of imagination in opposition to the standardization of our daily lives. Drawing on reflections about the manufacturing systems he encounters through his craft experiences, he creates hybrid objects by blending traditional craftsmanship, industrial materials, and natural resources.
Léonard Bayeurte, who trained first in fine woodworking and then in design, explores the connections between craftsmanship, techniques, and living organisms. Since 2022, he has been working with the spontaneous forms of trees, drawing on an analogy between the process of biological reproduction and industrial production. He is currently pursuing his research as part of a SACRe doctoral program at EnsadLab and the Campus Mode, Métiers d’Art & Design.
