“Queering Design”
As a queer designer and artist, my work explores body-political perspectives in design, continuously pushing the boundaries of how we perceive everyday objects. My projects navigate the spectrum between camp and functionalism, passion and protest, as well as futility and innovation. A set of three objects are presented in the exhibition, all part of the same intention: Queering Bathrooms, Pierced Stool and Peach Lamp.
Queering Bathrooms
It presents a counter-proposal to the normative standard of white sanitary ceramics. This toilet provocatively sticks its tongue out at the viewe – both as an invitation and a provocation – and serves as a subversive statement against the rising tide of conservatism and its accompanying anti-queer sentiment.
