Since ancient times, humans have explored wood and its potential. Wood joinery lies at the heart of this craft, with roots tracing back to Egyptian artisans around 3000 BC.
Tension Connection builds on this legacy by reimagining traditional joints. By removing the need for screws, glue, or other bonding agents, the system reduces waste. It uses slender wooden beams that interlock through precisely machined slots and intersecting elements. When assembled, the components pull against each other, forming a self-supporting structure held together by tension and gravity alone.
Its modular system allows for bespoke compositions at varying scales, from small displays to large spatial structures. Flatpack transport improves logistics, while its minimalistic aesthetic makes it adaptable to many spaces, offering a tactile platform to support objects.
Building on centuries of craftsmanship, contemporary interpretation of wood joinery demonstrates an innovative approach to mono-material construction.
