L’OSERAIE

Basketry, the art of weaving plant fibres, is an immemorial tradition.

These countless objects, used by a large peasant population to store, carry, clean, cook, sit, and sleep, are part of human intimacy.

L’Oseraie pays tribute to this art of the ordinary, typical of a dreamy Provence. You will find the Botte cut wicker seats, an Écailles wicker wall marquetry, the Canisse rug, or the Barigoule woven wicker lamps.

L’Oseraie is an encounter between the Mediterranean spirit and the Japanese spirit. The search for a refinement nourished by the simplicity of materials that evokes the passage of time, the patina, the renunciation of the radiance of a fresh beauty.

Seeing a basket maker weave the plant is sometimes like feeling that art rhymes with skill in composing and assembling. We then witness a demonstration of the craftsperson enjoying producing with his hands utilitarian objects that are a continuation of everyday gestures.
