In the rooms of the Hôtel des arts, the photographer François Halard will allow us to prolong this discovery of the architectural and artistic heritage of Toulon, that was started at the Galerie du Canon.
Already in 2017, he created a series of photographs for a monographic exhibition entitled “Suite Méditerranée”, presented as a part of Design Parade Toulon. He explored villas, artists’ workshops and modernist edifices built on the coastline. The Métropole Toulon Provence Méditerranée has therefore acquired a number of his prints.
This Summer, new images will be added to enrich the collection, completing the panorama that is proposed surrounding this period of reconstruction. We will also rediscover the collaborations between the architect Alfred Henry and the artist and interior designer Jean-Gérard Mattio, who have left their own mark on the history of the decorative arts.
The work of François Halard will enter into a dialogue with that of Alexandre Benjamin Navet, a young artist and winner of the Grand prix Design Parade Toulon in 2017, which will cover the facade of the Hôtel des arts.
