Historical reconstructions
Continuing the work initiated to mark the centenary of the villa Noailles in 2023, the art centre is embarking on the reconstruction of decorative elements that are emblematic of the taste of Charles and Marie-Laure de Noailles, and that have now disappeared. Alongside the furniture for the guest room designed by Sybold Van Ravesteyn, which has already been identically reconstructed – without the colours – thanks to the support and expertise of the Mobilier National workshops, these orders continue this year with the reconstruction of the entrance door crafted in copper by Claudius Linossier, the stained-glass windows by Louis Barillet, and a rug by the design firm D.I.M. (Décoration Interieure Moderne) for the villa’s dining room.
These projects represent the culmination of the work of the villa Noailles’ scientific team, whose research into documentary, photographic, and archival sources has led to the creation of these new rooms, as faithful as possible to the originals. These reinterpretations aim to recreate the atmosphere of the Clos Saint-Bernard villa’s first layout in the 1920s, as part of the centenary celebrations of the birth of the modern movement.
The villa Noailles has benefited from the support and expertise of exceptional workshops, whose experience, skills, and historical knowledge of materials and techniques have guided the production of the pieces to ensure their relevance and durability.
