Festival shop

Ode to maximality, to dispersion. Ornaments as an environment.
The shop is a theatre for objects which we have placed upon fabric cubes, inspired by avant-garde Russians and the decors of the Bauhaus. We have designed a total environment which stages the products by spreading out coloured textiles upon all of the surfaces, allowing them to interact freely with the variables of the architecture. Applied to the displays and the room, they are somewhat structured by malleable sides and metal curves in order to conserve their flexibility.
From the staircase to the courtyard, the space is invaded with lacquered or hammered aluminium pendants which reproduce and repeat the patterns in the fabric, allowing it to escape from its settings. Paint is implemented in its essential materiality upon the linen surfaces; we wanted to make accessible the so called “minor arts” and exhibit them with a transversality.
Union and unison of working as a duo, à quatre mains.
We share the principle that fabrics have an inexhaustible potential: applications, ennoblement, associations, it is a vector for suppleness and transformation, a medium just as much as a form, it is welcoming and infinite. We aspire to create varieties and collections which highlight this medium in order to create objects, furnishings, and decors.
Marie-Marie Vergne and Jeanne Martin Taton have worked as a duo for several years. Finalists of the Toulon competition in 2018, through their project entitled “Pendeloques”, they were already exploring the properties of fabrics in order to create a pictorial decor of holidays. They recently founded their own studio called Les Crafties.
