“Bibi kër” par Bibi Seck, la galerie du 19M de Dakar à Toulon

Bibi Seck guest of honour at le19M for Design Parade Toulon 2023
For Design Parade Toulon 2023, the 17th year of the international design festival organised by the villa Noailles and taking place from 22 to 25 June, Bibi Seck is le19M’s guest of honour. On this occasion, the Senegalese designer is presenting the bibi kër exhibition, a collection of recycled plastic furniture produced by the Laak Jom brand.
The prototypes in this collection were designed and developed for la Galerie du 19M Dakar, the first international initiative by le19M held between January and March 2023 in the Senegalese capital. Bibi Seck’s furniture was arranged both outside la Galerie du 19M Dakar and inside the exhibition space, with chairs, armchairs and high stools, high and low tables, practical workshop trays, sales counters, and lockers.

In the centre of the Ancien Évêché in Toulon, the space has been fitted out by the designer as his ideal apartment: the walls are covered with wooden partitions from which the characters of an alphabet he has imagined have been cut out. In this scenography, furniture has been placed in dialogue with the creations of an artist, a collective, and a
manufacturer, on the invitation of Bibi Seck.
