“Les oiseaux” par Matthieu Cossé

Les oiseaux is a mural stretching across the vaulted ceiling of the entrance to the former bishop’s palace in Toulon.
Painted in April 2023 for the Design Parade,
it covers and replaces the Ichtys painting previously executed by Matthieu Cossé in 2018. This new ceiling humorously depicts a sky populated by winged creatures from the artist’s fanciful bestiary.
Drawn in ink with a brush and freehand, the composition still has the fresh, fluid look of a sketch.
