Metatypes
Metatypes tells the story of a character living in a suspended, frozen world where nothing is produced anymore. Forced to adapt, he must compose, transform and create with what remains. Each creation is based on reflection, and each piece of jewellery expresses a new identity, free from the norms and standards that once confined it.
I present seven hybrid, unisex accessories: a helmet, gauntlets, a corset, gaiters, a ruff, a belt and a bag. Designed as modular adornments, they can be worn independently or assembled into a complete silhouette, forming a poetic armour that is at once ornamental, protective and assertive.
Made from recycled fabric composed of used shoes and sports studs, these accessories question our modes of production and what we own. They reveal how manual labour and craftsmanship can restore meaning, value and rarity to standardised, unremarkable materials.
Between an optimistic vision of reinvention and lucidity in the face of a world in crisis, metatypes sketch out a new imaginary of resistance, where fashion becomes as much an aesthetic language as a manifesto for transformation.
