Dressing space, inhabiting clothing.
Our studio focuses on creating spaces and objects that combine the fields of architecture and the object with that of clothing. Our intention is to create a dialogue between the techniques, archetypes, materials and scales specific to these disciplines.
Our research explores the technical vocabularies of know-how relating to the history of clothing, objects and interiors, studying the formal, social and sensitive nature of the act of dressing. For the Design Parade, we are proposing to dress a space, addressing the notion of the interior, which is common to both clothing and architecture.
The room is devoted to a collection of familiar objects gleaned from the surrounding area, an archaeology of local daily life in Provence, made up of fragments of past usage. We adopt all these elements as bodies – subjects to be dressed.
The walls are adorned with a trompe-l’œil of clothing. It is cut to size and shown in the process of being made. This hybridisation alters our perception of space, confronting the flat, rigid surfaces of the walls with the structural, supple materiality of the textile.
