- The world’s greatest powers are ruled by brainless, egocentric kids who play with big red buttons.
The climate is… tense.
The air is heavy and on the horizon a cloud of smoke threatens the sky that was so blue until now.
I can feel my lungs contracting and my heart racing.
My brain does nothing but hide. Quickly, bury myself.
Go so deep under the earth that no one here will dare come looking for me.
Hide from the bim and boom, no longer be afraid, no longer know fear.
To be protected, enveloped, covered and covered up.
Recreating a bubble beneath the earth that once nourished me.
Moving from branches to roots.
Being there so that I’m not there any more.
Here, I take with me only the essentials.
Here it’s strict, succinct, necessary.
But here I feel good.
Here is here.
Here is not there.
Abri-terranéen transports us to an apocalyptic future in the Mediterranean, where the only possible retreat is underground. Somewhere between a cocoon and a bunker, this room is a chamber where only the essentials matter. But in the darkness, red is the light at the end of the tunnel: escape. Made entirely from existing objects, recycled, re-used and re-imagined, it proposes a future in which the life of objects extends beyond that of human beings.
