Révélations Emerige 2022
from 8 December 2022, 10:15 to 12 February 2023, 10:15Chairman of the Emerige Supervisory Board
From9 décember 2022 to 11 february 2023, à Toulon, curious individuals, enthusiasts, and lovers of contemporary art, as well as young audiences are invited to discover the work of 12 young artists from the French scene on the occasion of the Emerige Revelations Grant. This 9th year did not break with tradition. Once again, with more than 1 000 applications submitted, the call for projects received a strong response from the artistic community. And so I, Gaël Charbau, Paula Aisemberg and the talented partner gallery owners Alexandre Mor and Philippe Charpentier, have subjected ourselves to a long and rigorous process in order to present to you, over a period of 6 weeks, the works of the twelve 2022 Revelations. I am particularly pleased with the passion and enthusiasm generated by the Emerige Revelations Grant each year. As a precursor, we have chosen to wholeheartedly commit ourselves and support young French artists since its launch in 2014. Today, the programme is a real springboard for all the selected artists. The news of “those who took part in the Emerige Revelations” —as some of the nominees call themselves—is testament to the importance of Emerige’s support for artists at the beginning of their career and confirms our role as a talent scout and catalyst within the emerging scene. This influence has been amplified over the past two years with an ever-wider audience thanks to the close relationships we have forged with the Villa Noailles and the Crédac. “There is no love; there are only proofs of love” said poet Pierre Reverdy. And this year, this same surpassing, this same dialectic is something we are invited to by Gaël Charbau, curator of the group exhibition entitled Douze preuves d’Amour (twelve proofs of love). This proof is the relationship that each and every one of us has with creative work, it is what gives rise to a multitude of emotions and touches us, in the physical sense of the term. You are all welcome to discover the brilliant artists of this new selection of the Emerige Revelations Grant, an initiative that makes all Emerige employees proud and which will celebrate its 10th anniversary next year.
The Toulon Provence Méditerranée Metropolis, which prioritises Culture, and the Villa Noailles Contemporary Art Centre of National Interest are particularly pleased to welcome the Emerige Revelations Grant exhibition to Toulon once again from 8 December 2022 to 11 February 2023.
This project plays an active part in the cultural dynamic of the region and is one of the highlights of the Hôtel des Arts – art centre of the TPM Metropole, a remarkable building built in the early 1900s, whose artistic programme is offered by the Villa Noailles. Thus, each year, the presentation of the design collections of the Georges Pompidou Centre, the Emerige Revelations Grant and an exhibition of designers’ drawings constitute a multidisciplinary cultural offer accessible to all in the heart of the city of Toulon. In addition, one of the artists of the 2022 selection, chosen by a jury brought together by the Villa Noailles, will then be invited to a residence at the Villa Noailles in 2023. The art centre is thus further affirming its vocation alongside young artists, presenting their work, and providing them with long-term support.
Jean-Pierre Blanc
Last year’s Prize was awarded to the artist Cécile Guettier. After a creative residency at the Villa Noailles, Cécile Guettier will present her work in an exhibition produced by the villa Noailles at the Ancien Évêché.
